Everything you ever wanted to know.
I have two modes that I particularly adore and excel in.
Number one: portraiture. I have a naturalistic take on posing, often verging toward anti-posing. My style with portraits could be described as directorial. I want you in the good light, and I want you to be interacting authentically. My approach is designed to help my subjects find comfortable, true, and beautiful ways of being in front of the camera.
Number two: documentary / photojournalism. I am interested in people, and I love to photograph them in a reportage style, whether that be a sneaky glance, a cheeky pinch, a grandma's tear, or the elation of all your friends getting low.
On a wedding day I average between 50–75 keepers per hour. I hand edit all of your images for exposure, color, contrast, and sharpness. I've also been known to zap a blemish on occasion when it looked at me wrong, but never to worry — I will not turn you into another person.
Turnaround time varies depending on season. Your images will always be ready within eight weeks. You will receive high-resolution images (JPEG) and printing rights through an attractive proofing gallery that is perfect for sharing with family and friends.
Absolutely, and I strongly encourage them. They create a perfect space for building rapport and deepening my understanding of the images that you will delight in. We'll work out the kinks, develop a shorthand, and arrive at your wedding day already in a good groove. At their best, engagement sessions are a date that a friendly stranger tags along on.
And how! Travel may be my greatest love. I am happy to travel for your wedding. There are no travel fees within an hour's drive of San Francisco, NYC, and Philadelphia. Take a look here for some of my favorite journeys with the love of my life, Adeline.
For most weddings I work an assistant or 2nd photographer. For smaller affairs it can make sense for me to work solo. We can discuss what makes sense for your day.
I do, and I love it. Portra and T-Max are my goto film stocks. I am currently shooting on a Pentax 645 and a Rolleiflex 6×6. Film is built into all full day wedding packages and is available as an add-on to elopements. The grain, the palette, the slight unpredictability — there is something about a film image that is precious and concrete.
I certainly do, and I am happy to add venues as additionally insured upon request.
Yes, yes, and yes. That's why you hire a professional — to have the professional gear, and all the backups.
Life happens. I understand that dates change, circumstances shift, and occasionally the universe has other plans. I mean… I went into 2020 with 20 weddings booked, and we sorted all of that out. My contract addresses this clearly, and I try to be as reasonable as the situation allows.
Indeed, and of exceedingly high quality.
The fastest way to my calendar is often the telephone. Give me a ring, or send me an email here.
If your mom pulls on my arm hard enough, I will take a few whirls around the dance floor, before returning to my happy place behind the lens.
There are some phenomena in the world that elude all explanation, amongst them is the extent of my coffee love. Sometimes I doze off dreaming of the coffee I will drink in the morning.
